It’s important not to forget our history. We hear this all of the time, but it bears repeating. I had the privilege of speaking at the Loudoun Museum last week, celebrating Juneteenth. I was happy to see not just adults present, but many young people listening and learning about Juneteenth. Museums such as the Loudoun Museum help preserve history, but it lives on when we share it with the younger generations. As I wrote in a recent article, Juneteenth Is A Celebration of the United States’ History and Promise, “It falls on us to honor the courageous acts of those who took a stand at critical moments in history.”
Celebrating Juneteenth is just one example of how we honor our past. History is all around us, and we must celebrate the many moments that have defined our history and shown the spirit of our perseverance.
