Sports and service have shaped the person I am today. Since childhood, I have cherished the value of giving back. I’ve been blessed beyond measure, and my birthday has always signified a day of sharing my blessings with others.
This year on my birthday, I’d like to personally thank and honor my high school alma mater, Hamilton High School in Memphis, Tennessee. My student-athlete career in high school was symbolic – it paved the trajectory for my future and propelled my student-athlete career as a basketball player for Georgetown University. The countless hours of pure work, sweat and grit conditioned me to persevere through any challenge, constantly improve, and understand the invaluable lesson of hard work.
This part of my journey as a student-athlete heavily influenced my drive to write my first book, Athlete For Life. In honor of my revered experience with Hamilton High’s Men’s Basketball Team, I’m giving each team member a copy of the book with faith that my lessons learned will impart guidance upon their careers as student-athletes.
