For so many Americans, the New Year offers the opportunity to reflect on our past, present and future goals.
2020 was very different for many of us and for families across the globe. Through challenges we persevere and improve, and that is what I embrace the most as we kick off this New Year.
My heart remains with families throughout Virginia and across our Nation – our schools, businesses, the youth, the elderly and each of you and your families.
Together our communities will strengthen, and together we will continue to improve as a Nation that was built to take on the most arduous challenges. Together, we will remain steadfast and committed to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Being a professor allows me to share what knowledge I have with others. It is also an opportunity for me to continue to learn because I firmly believe that by teaching we better understand what we are teaching and we also learn from those we teach.
I connect with people. Whether large or small, the power in speaking is being able to connect. We are more alike than we are different, and as a public speaker I look to tap into that connection.
